What Are the Usage and Advantages of Pneumatic Ball Valves?

Pneumatic ball valves have been widely used in various departments such as petroleum, chemical, power generation, paper-making, atomic energy, aviation, rockets, as well as in people's daily lives. The working principle of pneumatic ball valves is to rotate the valve core to make the valve unobstructed or blocked. Pneumatic ball valves are lightweight. They are small in size, and can be made into ones with large diameters. They have reliable sealing, simple structure, and convenient maintenance. The sealing surface and spherical surface are often in a closed state and are not easily eroded by media. They are widely used in various industries.

Pneumatic ball valves and plug valves belong to the same type of valve, with only its closing part being a sphere. The sphere rotates around the center line of the valve body to achieve opening and closing.

Pneumatic ball valves are mainly used in pipelines for fast cutting speed, distribution, and changing the flow direction of the medium. The pneumatic ball valve is a new type of valve widely used in recent years, which has the following advantages.

1. The fluid resistance is small, and its resistance coefficient is equal to that of a pipe segment of the same length.

2. Simple structure, small size, and light weight

3. Tight and reliable. Currently, plastic is widely used as the sealing surface material for ball valves with good sealing performance, and it has also been widely used in vacuum systems.

4. Easy to operate, quick to open and close, with only a 90-degree rotation from full open to full close, facilitating remote control

5. Convenient maintenance. Pneumatic ball valves have a simple structure, and the sealing ring is generally movable, making disassembly and replacement more convenient.

When fully open or fully closed, the sealing surfaces of the ball and valve seat are isolated from the medium. When the medium passes through, it will not cause erosion of the valve sealing surface.

7. It has a wide range of applications, with diameters ranging from a few millimeters to several meters, and can be applied from high vacuum to high pressure.

8. Because the power source used for pneumatic ball valves is gas, usually at a pressure of 0.2 to 0.8 MPa. It is relatively safe. If the pneumatic ball valve leaks, the gas can be directly discharged without polluting the environment, and it has high safety compared to hydraulic and electric valves.

Compared to manual and turbine rotating ball valves, pneumatic ball valves can be configured with large diameters. (The diameter of manual and turbine rotating ball valves are generally below DN300, while the diameter of pneumatic ball valves can currently reach DN1200.)
