The irrigation valve is an indispensable component of irrigation systems. There are many kinds of irrigation valves, which can regulate the direction of water flow and control the switch, improve the function of the pipeline, and ensure the safe and stable operation of the whole farmland irrigation system. At the same time, agricultural irrigation valve can help the manager to control the whole irrigation system in a more detailed and accurate way in order to facilitate the observation of various kinds of instruments attached to the installation. It is the insurance element in water-saving irrigation equipment.

What are the common irrigation valves?

Ball Valves

Ball valves are used solely to open and close lines in irrigation system valves. Features of ball valves are as follows: simple and reliable structure, small size, light weight and low cost.

Gate Valves

The gate valve is also a common opening and closing valve in agricultural irrigation valves, but the gate valve has the characteristics of bidirectional opening and closing control, small resistance to water, and small switching force. It is relatively moderate.

Pressure-reducing Valves

The reducing valve is a hydraulic control reducing valve. Its main function is to monitor the maximum value of water pressure in the pipeline. Once the water pressure in the pipeline exceeds or approaches the maximum value which is designed to withstand, the reducing valve will automatically reduce the water pressure in the pipeline until the normal value designed for the reducing valve or pipeline was got. The pressure-reducing valve is installed in the steep terrain, pipeline change direction and other water pressure which is easy to rise sharply. The common structures of agricultural reducing valves are film type and spring type.

Air Valves

The air valve, also known as the intake valve or exhaust valve, is mainly used to control the amount of air in the pipeline. The pipeline of agricultural irrigation systems will inevitably enter the air. Appropriate air is conducive to the operation of agricultural irrigation systems. However, it may lead to a pipeline system rupture. Therefore, foreign irrigation pipe network will generally install the air valve in the irrigation valve. At present, it is also being popularized in China, which is conducive to the normal operation of the agricultural irrigation system. Domestic air valves generally have single and double chamber structures. The selection is based on the volume of the irrigation system.

Safety Valves

As an irrigation valve, the safety valve is actually similar to the role of the pressure-reducing valve. The safety valve is mainly for the protection of the water hammer phenomenon in the pipeline. It is generally installed at the beginning of the pipeline to control the water pressure in the pipeline and prevent the water hammer problem. Common structures of the safety valve are spring type, lever type and open type. The choice depends on the range and size of the pipeline water pressure.
